Here are a few research results, which were included in the listed publications Research highlights of documents available on the Québec en forme site:

Facilities for Recreational Physical Activity (number 6, April 2011).

Main research results:

  • Better access to facilities encourages activity
  • Enjoyable environments encourage physical activity
  • Neighborhoods that are suitable for walking encourage physical activity
  • Improved environments are efficient and motivate people to move
  • Environments that favor physical activity facilitate active recreational activities

Parks, Playgrounds and Physically Active Lifestyle (number 3, March 2011)

Detailed research results :

  • Proximity to parks is attributable to a higher use rate and more frequent physical activity in a variety of populations, particularly youth.
  • The presence of parks and the area they occupy within a community are attributable to higher rates of physical activity.
  • In parks, people are more likely to be active on walking trails, in game areas and in sports facilities.
  • The perception of a park’s appearance, its state and safety may be attributable to its rate of use and the physical activity carried out within.
  • Organized programs and supervision may increase the use rate of parks and play areas, and heighten the rate of physical activity, particularly in youth.
  • The retrofitting of parks may increase the rate of use of certain facilities (for example, playgrounds and areas designed for skateboarding) and augment vigorous physical activity in children.

Africa, Beyond our Borders

In 2013, the JEUX-TEC team had the opportunity to export its skills to Burkina Faso, where it installed play equipment. JEUX-TEC does not limit itself to Québec. The Company’s philosophy instils in its members the idea that limits (geographic and personal) must be pushed back. Opportunities to improve skills and acquire extraordinary experiences that call into question one’s habits are what allow JEUX-TEC’s employees to perfect the execution of their installation services.

Here are a few photos of the project, carried out in April 2013 at the United States Embassy in Burkina Faso, Africa:
